The fire chief told commissioners the district "went out there and removed a lot of those trees, hazard trees that were dying" in the grove at the request of Rex, and that contractors are being engaged to finish remaining removals.
He said the district recently acquired a stump grinder and plans to test it in the grove soon: "We do have a stump grinder that we just got at the fire district. We're gonna start working out there in the next little bit, and see how effective that stump grinder is in trying to get the rest of those stumps removed out of the grove." The chief said Curtis is coordinating with companies to assist with the remaining tree removal.
