Staff described microsurfacing products (type 2 and type 3) as more expensive than chip seal but longer lasting and able to reduce aggregate loss and post‑application cleanup. "On our slurry seals, the type 2 and the type 3 are both pretty good surface—they're really good surface treatments...7 to 10 years on these type 3 micros," the road superintendent said.
A commissioner moved to award the project to SNC in the amount of $134,000; the board seconded and approved the award by voice vote. Staff will return with project scheduling and traffic control plans before work begins.
