Board honors All‑State musicians and IADA honorees

The Washington CHSD 308 board recognized more than a dozen students for All‑State Band and Choir honors and two students for IADA honorable mention during its April 14 meeting.
The Washington Community High School Board of Education recognized students who earned All‑State and IADA distinctions during its April 14 regular meeting.
The board named Reed Bloch, Luke Kelly and Chris Savage as Honors All‑State Band recipients; Jacob Faulkner, Lyn Fowler, Julia Johnson, Zackary Mickelson, Meyer Niehaus, Isaac Oxborrow, David Stevenart, Emily Tharp and Layla Ziegler as All‑State Band recipients; and Emmy Gerth, Grant Maston and Peyton Halliday as Honors All‑State Choir recipients. The board also named Isaac DeSutter, Olivia Felix, Maya Mahaffey and Audrey Maston to All‑State Choir, and recognized Charlie Borlin and Annabelle Hiel for IADA All‑State honorable mention.
Board members and staff congratulated the students and noted the Student Council will induct new officers and recognize seniors at a banquet April 30. The recognition was presented during the meeting's opening items; no action was required.
