District installs redundant high-speed links and prepares county paging integration

Ken reported the district has installed redundant high-speed data links between central dispatch and the Elko Fiberhut and is moving to provision them for operational use.
"One's at 60 gig, one's at 5 plus gig. As a redundant path, the 60 gig link is maintaining a data rate of about 2 point about 2.5 gigabytes per 2nd," Ken said, adding that the 5-gig link will serve as a backup and that the district currently runs about 200 megabits/sec for TV broadcast and thus has ample overhead. He said staff will work with Scott at INSHE and Payton to provision the circuit.
Ken also said a paging radio upstairs at the Jarbidge firehouse can be moved onto the system so central dispatch can operate county paging for that location. Staff identified Grindstone as the near-term priority for additional work and said they will sequence Jack Peak and Jarbidge to follow.
Board members thanked staff for the progress; staff said they will continue testing and return with provisioning details and timelines.
