Board approves small height variance for Tecumseh Road pole barn after applicant says materials already ordered

The Board of Zoning Appeals on May 28 approved a variance to Table 8.1 for a 1.239‑acre lot on S. Tecumseh Road that would allow a structure just over the 20‑foot height limit. Staff reported no objection from the Engineer’s Office and confirmed site review materials were filed.
Applicant Joshua West said the trusses had been ordered and that the 40‑by‑44‑foot building with a 14‑foot eave was intended to provide clearance for a vehicle lift. Board members said the difference (1 ft. 2 in.) appeared minor for a standard pole‑barn design and approved the variance (motion by Breanne Parcels; seconded by Tom Frank). The vote was unanimous.
Ms. Ward said the building department had the construction drawings for review and staff would follow up on permit processes after the variance approval.
