Mental-health board outlines crisis resources, urges renewed jail-to-community connections

Dr. Greta Mayer, Executive Director of the Mental Health and Recovery Board of Clark, Greene and Madison Counties, told the Clark County Commissioners on May 27 that improving access to mental health and addiction services remains a priority and noted, "May is Mental Health Awareness Month." She highlighted the 988 hotline as "a 24/7 crisis line for mental health and substance use emergencies," mobile crisis response for youth and families, and the Resilience Program designed for first responders.
Mayer also described local treatment capacity: Clark Countians can use McKinley Hall's E-RAAM for a 24/7 clinic and recovery housing, adult inpatient services are available through Mental Health Services, and Transitional Living of Southwest Ohio serves eight counties with six of its 16 beds designated for Clark County residents. Commissioner Charles A. Patterson pressed for follow-up on jails-to-community transitions, saying the topic "warrants follow up to find out where the breakdown is happening to get these people the immediate services they need once released from jail." Mayer said she is involved in the Stepping Up Program and will participate in efforts to reinvigorate it.
