Trisha Webb, executive director for Communities In Schools, told the board CIS is the fiscal agent for a five‑year, $12,000,000 full-service grant that will support programs across six schools, including two in the Elko County School District. “We are the fiscal agent of $12,000,000 for 5 years over 6 different schools,” Webb said, adding that roughly 70% of that funding is intended to flow to community partners to support in-school services.
Webb said the program will test bringing doctors into schools for on-site care, modeled on a Humboldt County clinic the team visited, with the goal of beginning a pilot in November at Flagview and Northside. She described the grant’s emphasis on reducing barriers to care — no cost to students using partner telehealth — and said CIS will work with NNRH and Nevada Health Centers to connect students to follow-up care when needed.
