Nevada Health Centers reports staffing additions, telehealth and weekend services

Stephanie White, senior practice manager for Nevada Health Centers in Elko, reviewed provider staffing and service adjustments across the health center network serving Elko County. “We did have a locum join us, Cheryl Stoddard. She signed on through the end of October,” White said and added that another temporary provider, Charles DeLeonardo, is scheduled to start Aug. 5. White said the system is recruiting multiple nurse practitioners locally and is using telehealth to extend behavioral health and specialty coverage into Jackpot, Wendover and Jackpot telehealth services.
White highlighted operational changes in Wendover, where clinics are now open Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. “They've been seeing about 5 to 10 patients currently and that just started the 1st part of April,” she said. White introduced Selena Holmes, an LCSW on staff, who described on-site behavioral health work and telehealth options for students and residents. Board members asked about outreach to Jackpot patients and pharmacy access; White said Jackpot has MA staffing and telehealth but no on-site provider at present.
