At its July 28, 2026 special meeting the Gunnison County Board of County Commissioners took the following actions regarding LUC-25-00004 (Lower Verzuh Ranch):
- The Board voted (2–1) to decline an immediate additional public hearing on the application (Commissioners Houck and Smith in favor; Chair Puckett Daniels opposed).
- The Board subsequently voted unanimously to remand the Major Impact Sketch Plan application LUC-25-00004 back to the Planning Commission for a more refined explanation of any recommendation and a more robust discussion of conditions in the event of recommended approval. The motion to remand was moved by Commissioner Elizabeth Smith and seconded by Commissioner Jonathan Houck.
County Attorney Matthew Hoyt noted the Land Use Resolution requires the BOCC to make a decision within 60 days of a Planning Commission recommendation; Planning Director Hillary Seminick said a Planning Commission member who missed the initial hearing could review the recording before deciding whether to participate. The Planning Commission was noted to meet on Aug. 6; the BOCC may reconvene later in August to consider the Commission’s analysis.
