Assessor and highway superintendent report routine updates; 509 gallons diesel used

Department heads delivered routine updates at the March 5 meeting. Assessor Teresa Lyons said New York State approved a Veterans Exemption for those with a 100% rating under special circumstances and that the exemption will be applied automatically to qualifying veterans.
Highway Superintendent Kenny Peoples Jr. reported that crews plowed and sanded roads, mixed salt and sand, serviced a new Chevy pickup, cleaned and organized the shop, prepared spring equipment and unclogged pipes on Gosper and Irish Hill Roads. The fuel log submitted shows 509 gallons of diesel used. Peoples also reported a title mix-up delaying delivery of an F550. The Bookkeeper and Town Clerk submitted financial reports: ambulance corps made 12 runs and pumped 23.8 gallons; justice collections were $1,571 and town clerk collections $375; the 2025 Annual Financial Report was filed and is available for review.
"Of the $969.00 the clerk collected, $621.00 was from the Court," the minutes note. The Town Clerk also reported 42 expired dog licenses and that no report was received from the Dog Control Officer (DCO).
