The Hobart City Board of Public Works and Safety voted July 22 to continue Officer Wojcehowski on unpaid administrative leave while the State Pension Board reviews his pension eligibility.
Attorney Adam Mindel, representing Officer Wojcehowski, told the board they are awaiting findings and conclusions from Attorney Elwood, which Mindel said Elwood has 30 days from July 17, 2026 to submit. Mindel said the State Pension Board will have 45 days from receipt of those findings to issue a final determination. Mindel also stated the officer is willing to submit a resignation effective on the date the State Board makes its decision; the board approved continuing unpaid leave on the condition that a resignation be on file effective that same day (motion approved 2-0: Mrs. Longer and Mayor Huddlestun).
City Attorney McCarthy and Attorney Whitten (who represents the Hobart Police Department) participated in the discussion; Whitten noted that a stipulation to set the resignation date to the State Board's decision would keep the officer on unpaid status until that date. The transcript notes the officer must be an active member of the 1977 fund and employed as a police officer in the state to be eligible for pension-related determinations. No further action was taken at the meeting.
