During the Aug. 21 meeting the Winfield SD 34 Board of Education ran through a first reading of a large set of draft policy updates and monitoring items. Policies on the agenda included governance and superintendent relationship policy drafts, student rights, extracurricular activities, search and seizure, pandemic preparedness and several administrative and board governance items.
The motion to accept the first reading of the listed drafts was made by Lynn Kammes and seconded by Heather Armstrong and passed on roll call. Board member Dave Hempe recorded an abstention. The meeting minutes list the full set of policy identifiers for the record; no substantive amendments were approved at first reading and the item was informational for future action.
Because this was a first reading, the policies will return for further consideration as required by board policy and state law; the minutes do not set final adoption dates.
