The Winfield School District 34 Board of Education met Aug. 21, 2025, and approved its meeting agenda, minutes and routine consent items by roll call votes.
Heather Armstrong moved to approve the agenda “as presented,” with Lynn Kammes seconding; the motion passed with five yeas and one nay (Dave Hempe) and one member absent (Matt Tibble). The board later approved the minutes and the consent agenda (financial reports including bill lists and treasurer/fund balance reports) with all present members voting yes.
On personnel matters the board approved an updated certified staff evaluation document in a roll call vote and also voted to employ Colin Rogers as a part‑time paraprofessional at a stated rate of $15 per hour for the 2025–26 school year; both motions passed with all present board members voting yes. Colin Rogers’ hourly rate was specified in the motion.
The board took a first reading of a large set of draft policy updates (see full list in the meeting record). That motion passed but Board member Dave Hempe recorded an abstention on the policy vote. The board voted to adjourn to closed session under 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(1) to discuss personnel matters; the motion passed on roll call. The board returned to open session at 9:59 PM; no action was reported from closed session and the meeting adjourned at 10:00 PM.
The record shows who moved and seconded each motion and provides full roll call tallies in the minutes for auditability.
