Three members of the public spoke during the Sept. 17 public comment period, raising parking and procedural issues and recognizing contributors to the charter review work.
Speakers Michael Justino, Vince Ferrandino and David Reich suggested the commission include a recommended subcommittee structure in its policies and procedures and urged consideration of reestablishing a Parking Authority, noting that the Zoning Board is currently addressing parking variance issues. The transcript records a public comment that “a Parking Authority previously existed in Mount Vernon and was needed going forward.”
The speakers also acknowledged and thanked Michael Justino for his contributions to the Green Team subcommittee recommendations. Mayor Shawyn Patterson-Howard thanked the commission for its ongoing review and agreed to provide draft ordinances to the commission as they are drafted.
