Assessor Teresa Lyons told the Town Board that a new law allows municipalities to adopt a local real property tax exemption for veterans who have a 100% service-connected disability. Lyons said the county recommended the town hold off adopting a local law or resolution until New York State finalizes any amendments to the statute.
Robin Carr, the town clerk, reminded the board that exemption applications are due by March 1, 2026. The board took the report for consideration but did not adopt a local exemption at the Jan. 8 meeting.
