Steuben County planners ask Addison to consider adopting county hazard mitigation plan

Deputy Supervisor John Lyons opened the Oct. 9 meeting and invited public comments. Janet Thigpen and Marie Myers Shearing of Steuben County Planning presented an overview of a County Hazard Mitigation Plan and provided an updated flood map to the board and the public.
Myers Shearing told the board the plan "can include flooding, heat, cold, insect control," and said the next planning meeting is in November. She and Thigpen asked towns to consider adopting the final plan; they noted adoption would not obligate towns to take specific actions but would make mitigation projects eligible for some grant programs. The board did not take formal action on the presentation at this meeting.
