NDOW reports large spring stocking numbers in Elko County; symposium and summit planned

Cody Byrne provided the board with spring stocking updates for Elko County waters. He said Angel Lake received just shy of 2,200 rainbow trout and will be stocked with cutthroat and tiger trout; Ruby Lakes received about 10,600 rainbows and browns and tiger trout; South Fork was stocked with just over 84,000 trout; Wilson Reservoir received 24,000; and Wild Horse received a combination totaling just under 65,000 trout species.
"Angel Lake received just shy of 2,200 rainbows," Cody Byrne said, and described adjustments made to stocking plans in light of anticipated summer low water levels. Josh Kirk reported that the Northern Wild Sheep and Mountain Goat Council Symposium, held in Elko, had more than 120 in-person attendees and praised the event’s presentations and field trips. Kirk also noted local upcoming volunteer guzzler builds and the Mule Deer Summit scheduled for July 23–25 in Ely.
Board members thanked staff for the updates and asked about registration details for the Mule Deer Summit and opportunities for board participation.
