Cusseta–Chattahoochee adopts FY2025–26 budget; commission notes possible millage-rate change

The Unified Government of Cusseta–Chattahoochee County adopted its fiscal year 2025–26 budget on June 3, 2025, setting the county’s operating and capital spending plan for the year beginning July 1.
Commissioners approved the budget resolution unanimously after staff indicated some income-line adjustments were pending and discussed raising the millage rate by approximately 1–2 mills. The formal adoption completes the county’s public-hearing process; two budget hearings were held on April 14 and April 28, 2025, prior to final approval.
The county also reviewed an administrative letter from Chattahoochee DFCS outlining that the county-approved DFCS budget for FY2026 is $4,650.00 and describing reimbursement procedures: DFCS will receive $387.50 in advance each month or may submit monthly requisitions for reimbursement, and expenditures of $300 or more require DFCS Board approval and minutes for payment authorization.
County Manager Thomas Weaver told the commission staff will reconcile the income-line changes and present any final millage decisions in subsequent proceedings.
