County approves Georgia Forestry fire-tower agreement, limits county payment to $4,738.58

The Commission of the Unified Government of Cusseta–Chattahoochee County on June 3 unanimously approved an agreement with the Georgia Forestry Commission to provide fire-tower services in the county.
Under the contract authorized by the board, county payment for the contract period shall not exceed $4,738.58. The agreement states Forestry will assign a fire-tower operator (a temporary day-laborer position not to exceed 40 hours per week) and that the county may be billed at the end of the contract period. The term of the agreement runs July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026, and either party may terminate with 30 days’ written notice.
County Attorney Bin Minter presented the resolution authorizing the chairman to execute the agreement; the resolution passed on a unanimous vote after a motion by Commissioner Frost and a second from Commissioner Biddle. The approval directs county staff to finalize the contract documents and return executed copies to the county clerk.
The agreement formalizes a local partnership for early detection and suppression of forest fires and clarifies operational and billing responsibilities between the Georgia Forestry Commission and the county.
