"They draw on the interest on the fund, which is like $12,000,000 or something now as well as 25% of the money that comes in," a board member said, adding that about $2,300,000 was identified on the agenda as the money available to spend without touching the fund balance. Members described a large packet of proposals and urged review by the heritage committee and project owners at an upcoming meeting.
Board members signaled broad support for moving the heritage proposals forward to the heritage committee for detailed review; one member said many projects in the packet were well-aligned with the fund’s purpose. The board’s motion to support the funding reallocations and proposed heritage projects was moved, seconded and carried.
The board noted that detailed review would occur at a separate heritage committee meeting where applicants and project owners could answer project-specific questions. No formal dollar-by-dollar approvals were recorded at the board meeting; the vote was a recommendation to support the items as presented to the committee.
