Board approves Amendment 2 to Wolf Creek bridge project after cost increase

Josephine County approved Amendment 2 for the ODOT-delivered Wolf Creek Bridge replacement after an approximately $400,000 cost increase; ODOT will contribute about $111,000 and the County roughly $284,000 toward the increase.
Public Works Director Rob Brandes presented Amendment 2 to the Oregon Department of Transportation agreement for replacement of a weight-restricted bridge in the Wolf Creek area. Brandes said the replacement will shift the bridge alignment to improve approaches and access for commercial, emergency, and logging vehicles and that construction will require a full closure because traffic volumes did not justify a temporary bridge.
As engineering progressed, estimated project costs rose by about $400,000. Brandes said ODOT would provide approximately $111,000 of the additional amount and that Josephine County would be responsible for about $284,000—an increase above the County's ordinary match rate (roughly 10.27% for eligible bridge projects). Construction is anticipated to begin in about May 2027 and last three to four months. Commissioner Martin moved to approve Amendment 2 as amended; the motion passed 3-0.
