District reports 138 million gallons of secondary-treated water; manganese study RFP planned for winter

Travis reported the district currently holds 138,000,000 gallons of secondary-treated water available for recycled use and that figure is down from roughly 166,000,000 gallons at the same time last year. "As of this time last year, we had a 166,000,000 gallons," he said; he added current storage is about 28,000,000 gallons lower than last year but remains heavier than two years ago due to seasonal factors.
Staff described disposal constraints and evaluated trucking as a short-term option; estimates showed that using two trucks to haul water to a regional facility could remove about 2.4 million gallons over two months at an estimated cost of $140,000, which staff judged not cost-effective. Separately, staff has prepared an RFP to study manganese at the water plant and intends to release it in November or December so a selected vendor can begin work in time for the next manganese season.
