During a review of revenue sources, staff said the city received $1,150,000 last year from the local government discretionary sales surtax.
Staff explained how sales-tax rebates function across counties: "There's a 1% ... I think Suwannee County collects 1%." The discussion noted Columbia County collects 1.5 percent and county-by-county surtax differences affect local receipts. Officials said they are still compiling revenue details and that staff are "working on revenue" to provide fuller fund-balance information later.
Committee members requested more detailed figures to compare year-over-year receipts and to understand how revenue-sharing buckets (including separate gas-tax shares) feed capital projects.
