The Union Township Board of Education approved a settlement agreement to resolve a contested special-education matter pending before the Office of Administrative Law and also affirmed a board decision that a Harassment, Intimidation and Bullying (HIB) complaint (Case #309414) was unfounded.
The settlement (OB6) resolves matters captioned before OAL Docket No. EDS 07759-20 and EDU 04919-2026S; the board authorized Board President Lou Palma to execute the agreement on the district's behalf. In addition, under Other Business item OB1 the board affirmed its prior determination that HIB Case #309414 was unfounded. Both actions were approved in the consent agenda by roll-call vote; the minutes note "Motion carried." The minutes do not include settlement financial details in the publicly posted text; the board indicated the executive session discussion was confidential and would be released when confidentiality no longer applied.
The motions were presented after the board reconvened from executive session where legal and HIB matters were discussed.
