The City of Pateros on Sept. 15 adopted Resolution 2025-15, declaring an emergency after a sewer transmission main failure affecting the Pateros Garden Apartments. Council voted unanimously to authorize Mayor Kelly Hook to request state, federal or other funding to address the impacts.
City Administrator Jord Wilson told the council the damaged line must be abandoned because it is "nineteen feet down," and said the city will seek assistance from the Public Works Board under what he described as "a 50 grant/50 loan with low interest." The council did not set a construction schedule during the meeting; the declaration enables pursuit of outside funding and expedited reviews. The resolution was moved by Councilmember Chantel Poole and seconded by Frank Herbert and carried unanimously.
