Oakland Thrive named Region 10 hub; county staff point to new funders including Fifth Third and Bank of America

Veil Walker Banks, CEO of Oakland Thrive, told commissioners that Oakland Thrive was officially selected as a Region 10 hub and will partner with TechTown, Wayne State and Velocity Center as part of a regional network. "We are officially a state sanctioned hub… and Oakland Thrive is the hub or spoke, if you will, to the hub," Walker Banks said.
She also listed corporate supporters (Fifth Third Bank, Bank of America) and upcoming events, including the Coulter Cup and an October 8 spotlight awards event that will be held at the Pearl Event Center in Southfield and include a pitch competition. The committee received the economic-development monthly report and encouraged connections between Oakland Thrive, Main Street and other county initiatives.
