Brad (planning staff) said the grant will pay for transportation and disposal of contaminated soil and asbestos abatement tied to a roughly $7 million, 12,000‑square‑foot project intended to provide shelter for approximately 75 guests. Staff said the overall redevelopment is expected to create 16 full‑time and 32 part‑time positions associated with the project. Commissioners asked whether the shelter operator had all other financing in place; staff said additional county housing resources were involved and that project leadership should be contacted for final financing details.
The committee approved acceptance of the EGLE grant 5-0.
