Residents split on housing goals: some urge more multifamily while neighbors worry about compatibility

By contrast, Colby Hatton of Stronger Idaho Falls and other supporters said denser housing such as duplexes and townhomes helps create entry‑level options and is necessary to keep younger families and workers in the city. "Entry supply anywhere in the city helps affordability everywhere," Hatton said, urging council to support housing supply. Councilors acknowledged both perspectives while noting their current role was to apply the ordinance's standards in this quasi‑judicial proceeding.
