The Berwick Select Board voted Aug. 4 to adopt a revised public-participation-by-remote-access policy, effective immediately. Town manager Arthur presented edits requested at the prior meeting and the board approved the policy following a motion to adopt.
Board members emphasized enforcement: a select board member said remote participants must display their real name on the screen when joining or they may not be admitted, and staff confirmed the meeting access is filtered before attendees reach the panel. "After participation, members of the public shall display their actual name on their screen when joining the remote meeting, or may be removed from the meeting," a board member stated during discussion.
The policy was returned to the website and will be posted with signature lines once final paperwork is completed. Staff said the change strengthens identification of remote commenters and formalizes the screening process already used by meeting moderators.
