The Chelsea School District Board unanimously approved its agenda and consent agenda at the Aug. 18 regular meeting, including approval of minutes and seven personnel hires. "Motion to approve the consent action items," was made by Michelle Craig and seconded by Sara Tracy; the motion passed 7-0.
Superintendent Kapolka presented the recommended hires during the consent package. Items approved included hires for Beach Middle School (a Social Studies teacher and a Science teacher), North Creek Elementary (a Teacher Consultant), assistant principal placements at Beach Middle School and Chelsea High School, and a social worker at Beach Middle School. The board did not record any opposing votes. The approved action items are listed as Action Item 06-25-26 through Action Item 12-25-26 in the meeting record.
Board members asked staffing follow-ups during and after the consent vote. Eric Wilkinson asked how many professional positions remain open; Kapolka said the only remaining vacancy was the high school social worker and that contingency plans exist if the position cannot be filled before school starts. The board adjourned to other agenda items after the consent vote.
