The Elko County TV District board approved an agreement to extend the Grindstone tower by 20 feet so Verizon can add equipment, and authorized district staff to negotiate and finalize terms for additional dishes and installations.
Technical staff (speaker S5) said Verizon provided a written commitment on 04/20/2026 to pay for contractor work to assemble the extension and related climbing apparatus and transmission trays. "We did get approval and commitment from in writing from Verizon on, 04/20/2026, which is documented that they will pay for the contractor to assemble, stack... and outer transmission line tray," S5 said.
S5 told the board that some existing Verizon dishes may not yet be installed even though Verizon has been paying for them; staff will verify installations and ensure the final agreement captures which dishes are included. The Chair asked for a motion to approve the 20-foot extension with a caveat authorizing Ken to negotiate any final additional dishes; the motion was made, seconded and the Chair declared the motion carried.
