Board adopts final FY26–27 budget, budgets technician and advertising

The Elko County TV District board voted to adopt the final fiscal-year 2026–27 budget after staff explained changes from the tentative budget, including personnel, advertising and reserves.
Staff member (S4) said one change was reclassifying a technician line to "outside employee expenses" and increasing that line to about $160,000 to reflect county employment, workers' compensation and health-insurance costs. "That includes PERS," S4 added when asked about retirement benefits. The board discussed capping technician pay; staff said the budgeted cap is $45 per hour to allow flexibility for hiring.
S4 also explained additions to outreach and program lines: $10,000 was added for advertising to meet legal posting and public-notice obligations, and $50,000 was placed for public-broadcasting/low-power TV development (the district already has a license in process). Staff explained the budget shows a placeholder $200,000 withdrawal from Raymond James securities on the cash-flow sheet to meet a two-month reserve requirement, but said they do not expect to actually cash the CDs.
Committee member (S3) moved to approve the final budget; a second was recorded and the Chair called the vote. Members voiced 'aye' and the Chair declared the motion carried, approving the final FY26–27 budget.
