District will ask legal counsel to update lease language amid balance of access and nondiscrimination

Kapolka said: "the District does not endorse or support the views of any organization, nor does it restrict lawful free speech or discriminate against groups on the basis of their beliefs, consistent with Board policy." She asked district legal counsel to review lease language and provide direction and suggestions in the coming weeks so leases reflect the district's commitment to a welcoming, inclusive environment.
Board discussion did not record a formal change to any lease at the Sept. 8 meeting; the item was presented as a policy- and contract-language review to ensure existing practices align with Board nondiscrimination and safety obligations.
