The Common Council approved several park and event requests for the summer, including use of School 7 and Promen Schenkel Stadium for school practices and games, approval for the 51st annual 1st Ward Falcon Club fast-pitch tournament (July 17' through July 19) and a youth softball tournament from Chadwick Bay (Aug. 1'). The council approved an American Legion request to close Central Avenue for a memorial car show on July 26, 2026, and granted loudspeaker permits for outdoor events, all subject to appropriate insurance and usual conditions.
A council member pressed for consistency on fees, asking that the Falcon Club be charged for 12 extra picnic tables rather than given a waiver; the council approved the request with that condition. A separate request asking the city to waive a $250 fee for the Chadwick Bay tournament was denied. The council also approved an outspeaker permit for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's Great Strides walk and a loudspeaker permit for Chautauqua Adult Care's agency picnic.
