Board approves nearly $30 million in expenditures; marching band jacket purchase withdrawn

At the April 22 meeting the Farmington Board of Education approved expenditures across funds totaling $29,958,897. The line items included General Fund $24,398,654; General Fund – Athletics $264,710; Debt Fund $144,193; Capital Projects – 2020 Bond Fund $1,731,231; Nutrition Services Fund $816,534; and Benefit Stabilization Fund $2,603,575. The voice vote in favor was unanimous.
Trustee Claudia T. Heinrich moved and Secretary David N. Turner supported the expenditures motion. Board members asked questions during the presentation of the expenditure printout; no roll-call breakdown of those votes was recorded beyond the unanimous voice vote statement.
Separately, an item to approve new rain jackets for the marching bands at Farmington High School and North Farmington High School from Francis Enterprises at $40,173 (excluding shipping and handling) was presented but the motion was withdrawn to allow staff to gather additional information about shipping and handling fees. The marching band item will be returned on a future agenda. The board also approved the consent agenda (minutes, Head Start report, personnel items) by unanimous voice vote.
