Jennifer Kaminski briefed the board on the Oakland Schools FY26 budget transmittal, explaining that the transmittal letter outlines school code requirements and that the General Education Fund, career-focused and special education funding were primary focuses at the April 11 district presentation.
Kaminski told trustees the district’s primary ISD funding source is property tax and that Oakland Schools projected a 3.7% increase in property-tax revenue for FY26. Board designates are invited to attend an April 23 Oakland Schools meeting to review the budget in more detail. The board must adopt a resolution of support or disapproval by June 1; this item is scheduled for action on May 6.
Kaminski encouraged trustees to submit questions for Oakland Schools to Superintendent Kelly Coffin before the next district meeting.
