Parks department outlines youth and community recreation programs, registration and scholarships

Heather Koppf, recreation general supervisor, reviewed the community recreation program team, their role in managing youth and adult sports, and open public input for the 28th & B Skate Park through Aug. 31. She noted the department operates seasonal and year-round programs including junior Giants softball, NFL flag and junior NBA offerings.
Koppf said the selected skate-park operator will coordinate open hours, special events and after-school programs. She also thanked volunteers and council staff who supported recent 9/16-day beautification efforts. Katie Houser (recreation manager) later highlighted fall registration openings and Camp Sacramento reservation dates and described two upcoming backpack giveaways and a successful aquatics season with national-level meets hosted in Sacramento.
Staff reiterated that scholarship funding is available via the Youth Program Scholarship Fund for youth sports and that additional access passes are available for qualifying participants.
