Farmington curriculum leaders presented a proposal to adopt a new AP Calculus textbook to replace the district’s 2006 edition.
Director of Curriculum Instruction & Assessment Margaret Hendrickson, K–12 Math & Science Coordinator Colleen Stamm and teacher Gabe Renaud recommended 'Calculus from the AP® Course (4th Edition, 2024) by Sullivan and Miranda,' describing it as College Board–approved, aligned with AP scope and sequence, and containing chapter-end AP and cumulative review problems intended to better prepare students for AP assessments.
Board members asked questions during the presentation and staff addressed alignment and instructional supports. The minutes record this as a presentation item; no vote on adoption is recorded in the meeting minutes for May 6.
Next steps: staff may bring a formal adoption item to a future meeting after final review and procurement planning.
