Superintendent emphasizes county-wide ELA, math and wellbeing goals; principals return Aug. 1

Superintendent Adam Bowen reported to the board that he attended the Berrien County Superintendents’ Retreat and that county superintendents reaffirmed three shared priorities: improving English language arts outcomes, strengthening math achievement and supporting student wellbeing. Bowen said districts have aligned professional development, shared resources and consistent assessment tools to monitor student growth.
Bowen also provided operational notes: summer school ends this Thursday and Summer Day Camp ends Friday, and principals are scheduled to return to work on August 1. He added that an on-site meeting for baseball and softball field improvements is planned and the district is awaiting approval from the Berrien County Drain Commission before beginning the project.
Bowen described the county work as an effort to embed goals at the building level through principal leadership and to use data to evaluate next steps.
