Work group to create bilingual pedestrian education and launch youth safety summit in April 2025

Ariane proposed creating bilingual (English-Spanish) pedestrian-education materials targeted at the county's most dangerous areas. Chair Wanika Fisher asked that the Office of Multicultural Affairs and the Office of Community Relations be added as implementation partners to improve outreach in diverse communities and immigrant populations.
"The only thing I would add can you add the office of multicultural affairs to this, Arian, for me, for the county specifically and, the office of community relations," Fisher said, arguing that culturally tailored outreach and translation would improve safety messaging. The work group also approved a proposal to launch an annual PGCPS youth transportation safety summit in April 2025 to build school-based capacity and student engagement.
Staff will finalize materials and the summit plan and include the board of education and PGCPS in planning; the suggestions will be part of the package posted for public comment.
