The board on May 5 authorized the Lorain County Sheriff to accept four Ohio Office of Criminal Justice Services (OCJS) Extradition Reimbursement subgrants totaling $11,369.88 for expenses incurred returning fugitives to Lorain County. The subgrants, each named for the originating detention facility, range from about $1,600 to $4,180 and cover the grant period July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2026.
Commissioners said the awards will reimburse eligible transportation and related extradition costs without requiring a local cash or in-kind match. The sheriff's office must comply with OCJS reporting, auditing and recordkeeping requirements as a condition of accepting the funds. The board authorized the president to execute documents necessary to accept and administer the grants.
