Board approves settlement authorization and intermunicipal police contract; several routine resolutions pass

On May 21 the Village of Greenwood Lake board moved through a series of routine resolutions and motions. The board introduced and approved Resolution 95 (appointing Trustee John Trezino as a village marriage officer) and Resolution 96 authorizing settlement of litigation; trustees said the village’s insurer will pay plaintiffs $20,000 in full and the board reluctantly authorized the settlement.
The board also approved an intermunicipal agreement (Resolution 97) to provide police services to the Greenwood Lake Union Free School District (elementary school only), with no substantive change to prior terms other than a 3% increase in the police-rate charge to $40.33 per hour. Resolution 98 authorized written notice under village code 40-5 for an unsafe rental property at Route 17A and directed follow-up actions by the mayor or designee.
Other business: motions to pay all audited bills, acceptance of the April 9 meeting minutes and scheduling announcements passed; trustees announced no budget amendments and that the next regular meeting is June 18 at 6 p.m.
Why it matters: settlements, intermunicipal contracts and unsafe-building determinations are formal municipal actions that affect village finances, legal exposure and local housing enforcement. The $20,000 settlement will be paid by the village’s insurance carrier, per board remarks.
