Mayor Halley told the board the village was awarded a $75,000 MS4 mapping grant to document and GPS-map the village's stormwater infrastructure, including an estimated 220–240 catch basins. "MS4 has to do with the discharge of wastewater into our lake...the state wants us to be able to provide a GPS oriented map exactly where each one is located," he said.
The mayor said the map and related compliance tasks will require staff time and money but that the grant will help pay for the work. He noted the village fell short in last year’s grant round but succeeded this year and will use the funds to offset MS4-mandated activities, including catch-basin cleaning schedules and discharge tracking.
