Green Lake addresses road maintenance, schedules ditch spraying with county

Town maintenance and public-works items took up the bulk of the Sept. 8 agenda. Maintenance updates reported that a stop sign and a stop-ahead sign were installed on Tuleta Hills Road at Oakwood, concrete was removed from Grand Prairie Cemetery with consideration of a new fence and brush removal planned this fall, potholes and broken road edges have been patched, and worn plow blades were replaced on trucks identified as 99 and 18. The fire department conducted a walkthrough and non-functioning exit signs were cleaned; other items were reported as satisfactory.
The board discussed county-provided ditch spraying to control noxious weeds. Chairman Moderow said the town has 52 road miles and the county would likely spray about 35.6–40 miles at a cost of $300 per mile; Moderow and Strelow moved to add the town to the county’s list for spraying and the motion carried (vote tally not recorded in the minutes). Scotts is planning to sweep roads by the end of September, and dirt was placed and seeded on Menominee, the minutes say.
