Upshur County approves appointments, hires and a retirement at July meeting

The Upshur County Commission on July 30 approved several personnel actions. The Commission appointed Joseph L. Carrico to the Upshur County Fire Board, approved retaining Carolyn Berry as a part-time employee not to exceed 500 hours annually, and approved the employment of Donna Bishoff as Administrative and Project Coordinator effective Aug. 9, 2026. The Commission also accepted the retirement of Greg Woody, Upshur County Youth Camp Director, and authorized County Administrator Tabatha R. Perry to advertise for a Facilities Director at the Youth Camp pending approval from the Nominating Committee.
Commissioners discussed the Youth Camp vacancy process and suggested Commissioner Doug Bush participate in interviews once the Nominating Committee convenes. The Commission recorded these personnel actions as motions that passed during the meeting.
