Students receive certificates from APEC summer health program; participants call it 'eye opening'

Courtney Underwood, a supervisor who helps run the summer APEC program, presented certificates to students who completed the two-week health-care program and described the program's goals. Students who spoke praised the program. "I came in with the idea of what I wanted to do, and I still have that idea, but I feel like everybody should definitely do this program," one student said. Another student, Brooklyn, said shadowing at Ochsner gave her "a better understanding of what nursing is" and that the program was "eye opening." The presentation highlighted the district's career-and-technical efforts to broaden postsecondary options for students.
