Resident urges action after repeated code citations at neighbor’s property

Joe Geisel, who identified himself as a resident of 15 Magnolia Circle, told the Ravena Village Board that an adjacent property at 26 Magnolia has repeatedly been cited for neglect but that little has changed. "They've been cited how many times, and this is at 26 Magnolia," Geisel said, adding that the property had been taken to court multiple times with no fines or other enforcement he could see.
Geisel described tall grass, piles of packages and general neglect that neighbors call a "pig pen," and said he will attend the scheduled court hearing on Aug. 6 at 9:00 a.m. to press the issue. "If something's not done about it... I'm going to the town board meeting, and I'm gonna complain about whoever doesn't do anything," he said. The board chair reminded attendees that an open court case could not be discussed in detail at a televised meeting but said the village's code enforcement officer will continue the process.
Why it matters: repeated noncompliance with local codes can affect adjacent property values, health and neighborhood quality. Geisel urged stronger follow-through from the town judge and court processes after multiple citations failed to produce visible consequences. The board encouraged Geisel to bring neighbors to the hearing and said staff will monitor the court outcome.
