Sheriff (speaker 7) presented a quarterly update highlighting recruitment and community engagement efforts, including Eagle Scout awards, job fairs at high schools and the county's citizen police academy. "We have our 2nd citizen police academy we started... So our next 1 would be next, March," the sheriff said, and encouraged board members and citizens to attend.
He described training and accreditation work: deputies graduate from crisis intervention training (CIT) and corrections training, the department has a new K-9 (Bane) partnered with Deputy Ryan Jones, and the sheriff is preparing for an interview before an accreditation panel likely in July. He also said the county supports tuition (80% referenced) for recruits and that the office has been engaged with collective bargaining this quarter.
