At the start of the May 6 meeting the Board unanimously adopted the consent agenda, which included Joint Resolution No. 26-28 recognizing May 4–8, 2026 as National Teacher Appreciation Week and a calendar change moving the May 20 meeting start time to 5:30 p.m. The motion to adopt the consent agenda was moved by Board Member Susan Alvaro and seconded by Board Member Patricia Love.
Superintendent Marco Chávez also took time to mark Teacher Appreciation Week, expressing "deep gratitude for all teachers and the extraordinary care, dedication, and passion they bring to students each day." The Board expressed appreciation for educators across county-run and district programs.
