Commissioners approve $20,000 TANF contract to support housing assistance

"You have in the drop box, contract between the Board of County Commissioners and Mountain Family Center for the amount not to exceed $20,000 to utilize that our temporary assistance to needy family funds to support housing assistance for eligible residents," Deb Rettenberg, Director of Human Services, told the board.
Commissioner discussion was brief; after Rettenberg answered questions the board moved to approve the contract as presented and the motion passed. Commissioners instructed staff to execute the agreement and noted the contract term runs through May 31, 2025.
Why it matters: the contract funnels existing TANF resources to local housing assistance via a community partner, aimed at short-term stabilization for residents eligible under TANF rules. The board did not change program eligibility rules; staff will return if implementation questions arise.
